Introduction to eMail Marketing
Electronic mail (email) is a letter sent over the Internet.  Internet users can send and receive mail from anywhere in the world as long as they have a computer, a regular telephone line, and a software programme designed to process outgoing and incoming electronic mail.  It is estimated that over 8,000 emails are processed every minute.

Create an eMail List
The best list is your own, compiled from people who have requested information about your products and services, or who have contacted you for whatever other reason.  It's not a good idea to surf the net simply looking for names to add to your list.  This is spamming, that is mailing to people who have not requested information from you and who may be alienated by your approach.

Creating Order Winning eMails
Stay focussed.  Don't waffle, especially if you sell information products!  Recipients may think all your writing is similarly flawed.  Keep letters short.  Long letters encourage recipients to save the letter for later and many will later be overlooked or lost.  Use short sentences and paragraphs.  Avoid lots of grey matter, that is long paragraphs that are very off-putting to recipients.  Break this rule and your letters will go in the rubbish bin.  Possibly, exactly where they belong!

About eMail Autoresponders
You can send letters, ads., sales brochures or any other form of information, to anyone with an email address.  This can all be done automatically allowing you to reach a potential audience of 60 million plus people in the UK. USA, Canada, and hundreds of other countries.  All of this mailing can be done automatically, without you lifting a finger, and at incredibly low cost.

Ways to Capture Email Addresses Without Breaking the Law or Spamming
From emails sent to you.  From feedback and order forms received at your web site.
From business-to-business advertisements online and off.  (Some people think collecting emails
this way is spamming.  I don't agree, mainly since both parties stand to gain from the average
business-to-business transaction).

About eMail Discussion Groups
An email discussion group is rather like a newsgroup but is delivered by email in a manner resembling eZines.  But a discussion list differs from an email newsletter in one major way - all members are allowed to voice their opinions, usually through a moderator.
